Caged Birds
The Caged Birds Competition celebrates the beauty and diversity of caged birds, highlighting the various breeds around the Rockhampton Region.
This beloved event demonstrates the dedication of bird owners and breeders, bringing colour and song to the Show.
The huge choice of classes will allow you to nominate your feathered friend easily.
In addition to a lovely exhibition of local avian beauties, the Caged Birds Competition is a friendly gathering of bird enthusiasts, so come along and learn more about this popular hobby.
What will spectators see?
Visit the Kele Pavilion to say g’day to gorgeous favourites like canaries, finches and budgies, and also admire the many exotic and unusual species on display.
This exhibition is not only a visual delight but also an educational experience.
Visitors are welcomed to ask questions and talk with committee members and owners to learn about the different species.
While you’re there, cast your vote in the People’s Choice Award to select your favourite bird.
How are the Caged Birds Competition judged?
Each bird will be evaluated according to overall condition, feather quality, and presentation.
Entering the 2025 Competitions
The Caged Birds competition will be held on Thursday 12 June, 2025.
Key dates
Nominations Close: 11.59pm Friday 6 June 2025
Exhibit Delivery: Please deliver your birds to the Kele Pavilion 4pm - 7pm on Wednesday 11 June or 6am - 8am on Thursday 12 June 2025.
Judging: Thursday 12 June 2025
Exhibit Collection: Please collect your birds from the Kele Pavilion after 6pm on Friday 13 June 2025.

The Caged Birds Competition is organised by the Rockhampton Caged Bird Committee.
