The Arts and Craft Competition celebrates the remarkable creativity that comes from our community, showcasing handcrafted treasures across diverse media.
This vibrant display of all things handmade spans traditional and contemporary crafts, featuring entries in pottery, ornamentals, woodcraft, jewellery, textiles, and more.
From delicate needlework and intricate patchwork to stunning mosaics, diamond dots and resin art, each piece tells its own creative story.
The categories and classes are very wide-ranging to accommodate the creative talent of as many makers as possible.

What will spectators see?
Step into the James Lawrence Pavilion and discover a kaleidoscope of crafty treasures.
Browse through the displays of detailed embroidery, colourful quilts, handcrafted jewellery, and artistic works in many different kinds of materials.
With dedicated sections for juniors and makers of all abilities, you’ll be inspired and filled with appreciation for the skills and imaginations of people within our creative community.

How are Arts and Crafts judged?
Each category has specific requirements that competitors must follow.
For example, in embroidery, judges differentiate between hand-stitched and machine-done work.
Judges also consider the originality of the designs and the effort put into each piece, ensuring that all entries meet the outlined criteria.
Entering the 2025 Competitions
Key dates
Nominations Close: Friday 30 May 2025
Exhibit Delivery: Please deliver your exhibit to the James Lawrence Pavilion (access via New Exhibition Road) 8am – 5pm Friday 6 June or 10am – 4pm Saturday 7 June 2025.
Judging: Wednesday 11 June 2025
Exhibit Collection: Please collect your exhibit from the James Lawrence Pavilion (access via New Exhibition Road) on Saturday 14 June 2025 8am – 12pm.
